– Education is not about knowing things or taking lessons but about being able to use three lingos: those of the head, the heart, and the hands… learning so that you can think about what you feel and do, can feel what you think and do, and can do what you feel and think. Unity within a person.”
Pope Francis
Our Mission Statement: Loving, Learning and Reaching out to All
At Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School, our mission statement shapes every aspect of school life. “Loving, Learning and Reaching Out to All” is not simply a phrase but a living expression of our Catholic faith and our daily commitment to one another. Rooted in the Gospel and the teachings of the Catholic Church, we strive to follow Jesus’ example by placing love, learning and service at the heart of our community.
Our Vision is God’s Vision for us
Together, we strive to live out our mission of “Loving, Learning and Reaching Out to All.” In faith, hope and love, we prepare our children to embrace life with confidence, compassion and integrity, ready to make a difference in the world.
Loving
We place Christ’s love at the centre of all that we do. Through daily prayer, liturgy, celebration of the Sacraments and worship, we nurture a strong Catholic identity and encourage all children to grow in faith.
-
We provide a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment where everyone is valued and celebrated.
-
We promote kindness, forgiveness, respect, and friendship in our daily lives.
-
We celebrate achievements and talents, recognising every child as made in the image of God.
-
We support local, national, and global charities plus charities close to our school communities hearts, encouraging children to share love and compassion with others e.g. CAFOD, Mary’s Meals, Scoliocis Society,
-
We listen to and respect each other’s views, fostering positive relationships built on dignity and care.
Learning
We believe that learning is a gift from God and should be inspiring, inclusive and transformative. Religious Education is central to our curriculum, influencing all that we teach, as we seek to develop the whole child academically, spiritually, socially and morally.
-
We provide high-quality, stimulating teaching that meets the needs of every learner.
-
We encourage resilience, creativity, curiosity and joy in learning.
-
We build strong partnerships with families, parish, and community to support learning together.
-
We offer a wide range of opportunities both inside and outside the classroom to enable children to grow in confidence and flourish.
-
We recognise the uniqueness of every child and nurture their God-given talents.
Reaching Out to All
Inspired by the Gospel, we are called to serve others, to reach out in love and respect, and to promote justice, fairness and inclusion.
-
We welcome all into our community, ensuring that diversity is celebrated and everyone feels a sense of belonging.
-
We actively engage with parish life, community initiatives, and charitable work at home and abroad.
-
We encourage pupils to be responsible citizens, global stewards and caring friends.
-
We build partnerships with families, parish, and local organisations to strengthen our mission of service.
-
We promote understanding of other faiths and cultures, recognising that all people are children of God.
